Companies — Organize Contacts by Organization

The Company Object is a record type that sits above individual contacts in your data model. Instead of treating every person as an isolated contact, you can link multiple contacts to a shared company record and then view, track, and communicate with the whole group through that single point.

This is useful whenever you work with organizations rather than individuals — agencies with multiple staff members, businesses with separate billing and technical contacts, or any account where you need a unified view of everyone involved.

The Companies tab in the Contacts section showing a list of company records with name, phone, and associated contact count columns

  1. Go to Contacts in the main navigation.
  2. Click the Companies tab in the secondary navigation ribbon at the top of the page.

The Companies tab lists all company records in your account. From here you can create, search, edit, and delete companies, and view the contacts associated with each one.

The New Company slide-out panel showing fields for company name, phone, email, website, description, and address

  1. From the Companies tab, click + New Company in the top-right corner.
  2. A detail panel opens on the right side of the screen. Fill in the company information:
    • Company Name (required)
    • Phone Number
    • Email
    • Website
    • Description
    • Address (Street, City, Postal Code, Country)
  3. Click Save.

Only the company name is required. Adding more details improves searchability and makes the record more useful as a reference for your team.

  1. From the Companies tab, find the company you want to update.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (…) next to the company name.
  3. Select Edit Company.
  4. Update the relevant fields in the detail panel.
  5. Click Save.

  1. From the Companies tab, find the company you want to remove.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (…) next to the company name.
  3. Select Delete Company.
  4. Confirm by clicking Yes.

You can link a contact to a company from within the contact’s own profile.

  1. Navigate to Contacts and open the contact’s record.
  2. Select the Company tab in the left-side navigation of the contact profile.
  3. Search for and select the company you want to associate.
  4. Click Save.

For multiple contacts at once, select them from the contact list view and use the bulk action to assign them to a company in a single step.

  1. Go to Contacts → Companies and open the company record.
  2. Select the Contacts tab within the company profile.

All contacts currently associated with that company are listed here.

  1. Open the company profile and go to the Contacts tab.
  2. Click the trash bin icon next to the contact you want to unlink.
  3. Confirm by clicking Yes.

Removing the association does not delete the contact — it only severs the link between that person and the company.

If your contacts include a Business Name field, the system can create and link company records automatically.

  1. Go to Settings → Objects → Company.
  2. Enable the toggle labeled Automatically Create and Associate Companies from Contact Business Names.

When this is active, any contact with a business name that matches an existing company is associated with it automatically. If no matching company exists, a new one is created. This removes the need for manual assignment in high-volume import or lead-capture scenarios.

Can a contact belong to more than one company? No. Each contact can be linked to only one company at a time.

Does deleting a company delete its contacts? No. Deleting a company removes the company record and clears the company field on associated contacts, but the contacts themselves remain in your database.

Can I assign contacts in bulk? Yes. Select multiple contacts from the contact list and use the bulk-assign option to link them all to a company at once.

How do I find all contacts under a specific company? Go to Contacts → Companies, open the company, and view the Contacts tab.

Can I automate contact-to-company linking without the Business Name toggle? Yes. You can use a workflow with the Update Contact action to set the company field based on any condition — a form submission, a tag, a custom field value, or other trigger.
