Contact Profile Picture

A contact profile picture is a visual identifier — a photo or logo — attached to a contact record. Once set, it appears next to the contact’s name in the contacts list and in the conversations inbox, making it faster for your team to recognize who they’re looking at without reading a name.


  • Contacts list — the image shows in the row next to the contact’s name.
  • Conversations inbox — the image appears in the left-hand conversation list and in the right-side contact panel when that contact’s thread is open.

Profile pictures do not appear inside the full contact profile record itself (the detail page).

On the new contact detail page, the profile picture can be edited directly from the contact record — click the picture area at the top of the detail page to upload or replace an image at any time.

On the classic contact creation flow, pictures can only be set at the time a contact is created. Once saved in the classic flow, there is no way to change the picture short of the merge workaround described below.

  1. Go to Contacts and click + Add Contact (the plus button).
  2. In the contact creation window, click the image area labeled Personal Logo.
  3. Upload an image file. Recommended size: 512 × 512 pixels, maximum file size: 2.5 MB, formats: JPG or PNG.
  4. Fill in the rest of the contact details.
  5. Click Save.

The image is now attached to the contact and will appear wherever profile pictures are displayed.


If a contact already exists and you want to add a profile picture, the workaround is:

  1. Create a new contact record with the desired profile picture and identical contact details.
  2. Merge the new contact into the existing contact record.

After merging, the profile picture from the new record carries over to the merged contact.
