Multiple Phone Numbers for a Contact
A single contact can have up to 11 phone numbers stored on their record. Each number gets a label — Mobile, Work, Home, Landline, or similar — and one is designated as the primary number that workflows and outbound calls use by default. This is useful for anyone who has separate personal and work lines, for vendors with multiple departmental numbers, or simply for keeping backup contact methods on file.
How to add phone numbers
Section titled “How to add phone numbers”
- Open the contact record and go to the Contact (field) section.

- Repeat for additional numbers — up to 11 total.

Setting the primary number
Section titled “Setting the primary number”Only one number can be primary at a time. The primary number is what workflows, automations, and outbound calls use unless you configure them otherwise.
- To set a number as primary, check the Primary checkbox next to it when adding or editing.
- If no number is explicitly marked as primary, the first number in the list is treated as primary for outbound communication.
Editing and removing numbers
Section titled “Editing and removing numbers”- Edit a number — click directly on the phone number to update it.
- Remove a number — click the trash icon next to the number you want to delete.
- Reorder numbers — numbers display in the order they were added. To reorder, delete and re-add in your preferred sequence.
How multiple numbers work with automations
Section titled “How multiple numbers work with automations”Workflows use the primary number by default. If you want a specific workflow to use a different number, check whether your workflow actions support number selection; otherwise, set the intended number as primary before the workflow runs.
Common questions
Section titled “Common questions”What if I don’t set a primary number? The first number entered for the contact is used as the primary for outbound calls and messages.
Can I add international numbers?
Yes. Enter the number with the full international dialing code, for example +44 7700 900000.
Can I use the same label for two numbers? No — each label must be unique per contact. Use distinct labels to clearly distinguish numbers.
Do workflows use secondary numbers? Workflows default to the primary number. The primary number is the one to keep accurate and current.
